Are you a spiritualist or just spiritual?
This is a controversial question that I have pondered for a while now, and no doubt, I will be updating this information over the next few weeks/months. Before I go into my own opinions and analogies, I need to first define what I mean by both.
Definitions:
Spiritualist/Spiritualism - A way of life. Moving away from the materialistic world and being more selfless rather than being selfish. Practicing the universal law of Karma and giving with a good heart and good intention and not for selfish reasons or for reciprocation. He or She may be a medium but this is not essenital.
Spiritual - A person that may or may not be a medium but has moved away from organised religion and feels that there is a higher power guiding us.
Now I have come across mediums that have said they are spiritualist but the truth of the matter is that they would take the shirt off your back back if you let them! they still live in the materialistic world and do not have (or have very few selfless) good intentions or practice the law of Karma. To me, these people are not spiritualist, but spiritual people (and I say that begrudgingly) that have a gift to link with spirit and to be able to pass a message on.
In my opinion (for what it is worth) this is not spiritualism.
What we need to be teaching people who want to work with spirit are the funamentals of what spiritualism is and than go from there They need to know that being a medium does not mean your a spiritualist.
As a spiritualist you also have to have good selfless intentions and practice the law of Karma (spirit look at our intentions when we do something to see if we are doing something out of the goodness of our heart or whether it's for selfish reasons).
This is probably why a lot of people (mediums included) do not get to where they want to be as they are doing things for their own selfish gain and not helping or considering anyone else.
So to sum up, ask yourself this question - Are you a spiritualist or just spiritual?
